Your Life and Estate Laws Are Always Evolving. Has Your Plan Kept Up?

In Family Legacy & Philanthropy, Retirement Planning, Tax Strategies, Wills & Trusts

Estate plans are not intended to be a one-and-done project. They are living documents that should reflect your current situation, needs, and goals. That can only be achieved via regular reviews, and Borchers Law makes it easy to accomplish that via several customized estate plan services:

The benefit of periodic reviews cannot be overvalued. That’s why 95% of our trust clients select one or more of our trust support programs. In addition to ongoing reviews, participants enjoy a 10% discount on our estate planning service — a benefit that extends beyond the client’s death through settlement of his/her estate. Folks who have not been regular clients are welcome to join as well, beginning with a thorough review of their current plan.

Estate Plan Update Checklists

Our firm checklist for each client evolves from year to year with new points concerning assets, family matters, future plans, and major life changes. We provide clients a similar checklist to prompt for subjects of mutual importance. Every three years, these lists are replaced with a fresh set, ready to evolve again.

Updating the Asset Trust Organizer (ATO) is an important element of our review services, at least every third year. We’ve expanded the ATO repeatedly in response to the need for helpful information at the client’s and our own fingertips.

Review and Refinement

We understand that not all your questions require a lengthy meeting. By participating in a support program, you will have the benefit of a speedy response, access to our staff who can respond to your various needs, and invitations to client seminars.

ILIT Service

Many clients benefit from the use of an Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust, or ILIT. In order to qualify their life insurance proceeds to be exempt from estate taxation, annual contributions to the life insurance policies need to be treated as gifts. ILIT maintenance is required in order to assure proper tax treatment.
