A Peek Behind the Curtain: What New Team Members Think

In Team News & Community Involvement

Are you wondering what it is really like at Borchers Law Group? Do these friendly people get along as well as they appear? We thought we’d give a behind-the-curtain look from two of our newest team members, Erika Schaad, Administrative Legal Assistant, and Stephanie Marra, Paralegal. Erika joined the team in April and Stephanie joined just after Memorial Day. So both now have a few months under their belts to give a fresh perspective on what it’s really like at the law firm. To probe, we asked them these questions:

How is working at Borchers Trust Law different than other jobs you’ve had?

When asked how it’s different, Erika responded, “I have worked in several different industries over the years and have found Borchers to be one of the most exciting jobs I’ve had to date. Every day there is something new happening and we really care for our clients and their well-being. It feels good to be part of something special.” Stephanie noted the supportive atmosphere and amazing staff.

What were your first impressions and have they changed?

Erika said she wasn’t sure what to expect when she started. She knew that she liked the people she had interviewed with, but wasn’t sure exactly how everyone would interact on a daily basis. She was happy to learn that her intuitions were right, and she has enjoyed working with each and every person. She said, “We truly work as a team and everyone’s role makes a difference.”

Stephanie observed, “My first impressions during my interview were that Tim, Marc and, Paula were professional, steady, and dedicated to finding the right people for the office. I learned after starting that they have staffed their business with really capable professionals who are committed to their clients and to doing a thorough, excellent job.”

What do you enjoy about your job?

Both women agreed that they enjoy the diversity in what they do. Erika said she does multiple things each day, “I am constantly learning new information and how important what we do is. I also really enjoy getting to meet our clients in person after speaking to them several times during our processes.” Stephanie likes working with several of our lawyers and appreciates that her daily tasks are so varied.

What skills or experiences do you bring to the position that have been a good fit?

For Erika, she said her 20+ years of experience in office and administrative work prepared her for the role. She also noted that her ability to talk to people and make them feel welcomed has helped in her current administrative position.

Stephanie shared, “I had extensive experience in estate planning law, so I was able to begin contributing right away, although I’m still learning the Borchers systems.” She added, “Being the ‘newbie’ is just never fun and always humbling! I still have a lot to learn!”

What is your impression for where the firm is headed?

Erika sees that the firm is forward thinking and is here to stay. She observes changes in processes to stay current with technological advances, which will keep the firm relevant and on the leading edge.

Stephanie has come to learn that Tim and Marc are always looking for innovative ways to support and stay connected to their present clients, to grow the business, and to stay informed of current laws which impact their clients.

What is it like working on the team?

Erika shared that they all work very closely together each and every day, “We have a great group dynamic and really complement each other well. I truly work with some of the smartest, kindest, genuine people ever.” Stephanie added, “Everyone is just so helpful, courteous, supportive and pleasant; it’s a great team!”

This is quite a compliment. Let us take this opportunity to give them a shout back to say, “We love working with you too, we value your contributions, and we are SO GLAD that you are both on the team!”
