Surviving and Thriving in 2020

In Team News & Community Involvement

In wrapping up 2020, we have a lot to be thankful for, even during these unprecedented times. Our clients, community, and firm found a way to press on, to not only meet the challenges of the pandemic, but to grow and learn in response. Here are some highlights from this year.

  • We augmented how we work. More team members worked from home and it was a success! Our work-from-home employees joined the growing number of remote workers who are twice as likely to love their jobs. And happy employees make happy clients!
  • To meet the growth and maintain our quality service to clients, we introduced two new attorneys to our firm, Chris Anasoulis and James Shannahan, along with two new administrative assistants, Kayla Borchers and Julie Overstreet.
  • We were pleasantly surprised with how flexible and willing our clients were to use new technologies to accommodate virtual appointments when preferred. We invested in technology upgrades in 2019 and this definitely helped make this transition a smooth one.
  • Based on clients’ needs and feedback, we introduced new services like the Health Documents Toolkit, which provides important legal healthcare forms (like the HIPAA privacy form and the Healthcare Proxy). This is free to healthcare workers as a “thank you” for being on the front lines. Here’s a Boston nurse who was very relieved to get these important documents in order.
  • We created a new trust plan specifically for young couples – the Simple Trust Plan – so trusts are more accessible to younger families who want protection for their kids.

  • Our new Northeast Estate Planning Guide is a free, online resource for our colleagues in the estate, financial, and tax planning communities to offer common and trending estate planning strategies and tools.
  • Our sister company, Northeast Private Trustees, launched in 2020, offering third-party trustee services to individuals or professionals.

We actually have a great reason to celebrate this year: 25 years in business! This has definitely been the most unique year so far, but we continue to be grateful for our clients and are looking forward to what’s ahead in 2021.

Here’s a message from our firm’s two partners, founder Tim Borchers, Esq., EPLS, AEP and Marc Cusano, Esq., about all of the reasons they are thankful this year even in the midst of a pandemic:
